Our four-day trip to England was quite exciting and an overall success. Unfortunately we didn't get to speak much English, however, we got to see the major sights and experienced London as a vibrant metropolis.
The first challenge I had to tackle though, was packing. Not only did I think it would be much colder and took more than one pair of pants with me (what proved to be totally unnecessary), I also thought my suitcase was overweight so I started unpacking and of course decided to leave some of the most important things behind. The one downside of the trip to London was the hostel we stayed at. It was completely unsanitary. I thought I would feel uncomfortable sleeping there though, but since we walked approximately 201934 miles a day I fell asleep within seconds. Also, I perceived the public transportation as very stressful. I definitely started appreciating our dear BVG. I believe that my favorite part was the boat tour. I had never been to London before, so it was important to me to see all the famous sights, like Big Ben. But I also loved Camden Market and Soho, places I had not heard of before. The thing I was really glad about was the group dynamic. We all got along and I got to know my fellow students better. I definitely established new friendships and am glad, that we match as a group. I believe that that will make next year’s English class more fun, too. All in all, I don’t want to miss this experience; London is a different kind of city compared to Berlin and worth visiting. It formed us students as a group, as individuals, and as learners of the English language.
